UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: Police recovered 45 kg poppy straw (bukki) and 820 gms brown sugar and arrested one person in this connection.
A police spokesman said that acting on a tip off, a police naka party from Chenani intercepted truck bearing registration No. JK02G/ 3845 at Samroli on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and during search of vehicle recovered 45 kg `bukki’. The vehicle was on way to Jammu from Valley. The truck driver Bhushan Kumar, resident of Johnu in Udhampur was arrested. A case was registered against him.
Police party from Kud during naka at main market, on National Highway conducted search in Bus No. JK-14C/ 3786 and recovered 820 gms brown sugar. The vehicle was on way to Jammu from Gandoh. No passenger claimed the bag containing contraband material. A case was registered and investigation started.
