HM to visit Leh for 3 days

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 1: Few days after the visit of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to Siachen and Leh apart from Poonch and Srinagar and Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Defence to Northern Command, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is visiting Ladakh on three days visit from June 5 for high level review of infrastructure along Sino-Indian border in Eastern Ladakh.
Official sources said Rajnath will reach Leh on June 5 and will be there till June 7 during which he would visit forward posts along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, manned by Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), a para-military force falling under the control of the Home Ministry.
He would review situation prevailing on the LAC with China including infrastructure requirements and other problems of the ITBP. Though there had been no incursions from the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) in Ladakh for the past quite some time now, the Indian side wants to strengthen its infrastructure to make it at par with China and the visit of the Union Home Minister was aimed in that direction.
On May 22, Parrikar had visited Leh and Siachen Glacier and reviewed situation on China frontiers with top Army Commanders.
The PSC on Defence headed by Maj Gen (Retd) BS Khanduri had visited Northern Command Headquarters on May 30 to review the situation on borders with Pakistan and China.
