Srinagar, May 26: The Higher Education Department (HED) today enabled Tentative College Allotment and indicative cut-off trends for undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, allowing applicants to assess likely competition before the final seat allocation process.
The tentative allotment and provisional cut-off trends have been made available on the admission portal, jkadmissions.in, based on the current application data.
Officials said the trends are presently generated from General/Open Merit data and are intended only to help students make informed choices while finalising their preferences.
The department advised applicants across all categories, including reserved categories, to review and update their programme and college preferences before the final locking and allocation process.
The Directorate urged candidates to add more eligible programme preferences, opt for multiple colleges and universities, and avoid restricting themselves to a few highly competitive courses.
Applicants have also been asked to arrange their choices carefully in order of priority.
The Directorate clarified that the displayed cut-offs are purely indicative and provisional and should not be treated as final admission benchmarks or guarantees of selection.
It said the final allotment may vary depending on several factors, including category-wise seat distribution, number of applicants in each category, changes in preferences, seat upgradation or withdrawal, document verification, merit position, tie-breaking rules, university-specific policies and administrative decisions.
Officials also said the final allotment list has not yet been published and the admission authority reserves the right to revise cut-offs, seat matrices, policies or allotment outcomes at any stage without prior notice.
Director Colleges J&K, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, urged students to treat the trends only as a guidance tool and use them to broaden and reprioritise their choices.
He also advised applicants to make use of the Course Explorer facility available on the Directorate website, directorcollegesjk.in, and visit Counselling and Facilitation Centres established at colleges for assistance.
