Health Deptt takes samples of water in Dabnu village

SAMBA, May 23:A team of Health Department, Samba have taken the samples of water in the hilly village Dabnu in block Sumb of district Samba where after drinking contaminated water from a Bavali 35 people were taken ill on Thursday.
After getting the report of people falling ill by drinking contaminated water, Health Department dispatched a team to the village and some people were treated at the PHC Health Center, Sumb. Today the Health Department team reached the village Dabnu and collected samples from various water sources which will be sent for examination to find out whether the Bavli water was contaminated or not.
The local residents, Puran Singh, Des Raj, Charanjit Singh, Omkar Singh, Balwinder Singh and Raman Singh said that some dead insects were also found near the water source of the said Bavoli, although the locals have also cleaned the Bavoli.
Local people said the Department of PHE has failed to restore the water supply to the area for last three years and many times they had informed the department but there was no response.
