HC seeks report on encroachments of parks

SRINAGAR, Sept 6: High Court today sought response from various authorities regarding encroachments and maintaining of parks in Srinagar city and outskirts of the city.
The Division Bench Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmad and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey while taking cognizance of a letter addressed by former High Court Judge of State and SHRC chairman with regard to encroachments and maintaining of parks, directed the authorities to submit their response.
Court was today informed by the  Advocate General that an affidavit has been filed on behalf of the Director, Floriculture Department but the same was not on record. Court directed the Registry to place the same on record so that court  can examine it. Meantime court directed other concerned authorities to file their responses before the next date of hearing which the court fixed on September 21.
SHRC Chairman has addressed a letter to Chief Justice of the State with regard to encroachments and maintaining of parks to which the court has taken cognizance and arrayed Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Commissioner Secretary of UDD, Director Floriculture, DC Srinagar, VC SDA and Commissioner SMC as respondents to the PIL and sought response from them on the issue by or before September 21.
