SRINAGAR, Sept 4: The Union Government today sought two week to produce the new policy with regard to rehabilitation of last year flood victims and to disclose the status of Rs 44, 000 crores assistance sought by the State Government.
The Division Bench of Chief Justice N P Vasanthakumar and Justice B L Bhat asked the union counsel S A Makroo (ASGI) to produce the policy before the court on next week by observing “where is the old policy and the policy be produced before the court”.
“The counsel appearing will submit compliance report on September 10 and on that day policy for grant of relief formulated prior to April 2014 shall be filed”, court directed the Union Counsel.
Court pulled up the counsel for delaying the rehabilitation process and observed to him: “What is your stand as you are celebrating one year anniversary of the havoc and still you are undecided”.
Union counsel requested the court for some time to disclose the stand on Rs 44000 crore package sought by the State government from the Centre and the policy for grant of relief to the victims.
Court is dealing with a PIL filed by two advocates immediately of devastating floods in the Valley for rehabilitation of flood victims in mechanical manner.
