JAMMU, Sept 14: High Court today directed the District Magistrate Anantnag to file compliance report or appear in person on next date of hearing.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Madan Lal Bhat and others seeking directions to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to implement the provisions of J&K Migrant Act and protect and preserve the property of petitioners.
In the petition, the High Court had issued directions to the District Magistrate for compliance by today but he failed to do so.
When the matter came-up for hearing today, AAG Ehsan Mirza, appearing for the State, sought time, which was granted by Justice Janak Raj Kotwal. However, Justice Kotwal made it clear that if the compliance report is not filed within two weeks then District Magistrate shall appear in person to explain his conduct.
