Gyal may be new CEC, JTN quits

Excelsior Correspondent LEH, June 14: Gyal Wangyal is likely to be the new Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC, Leh, as the incumbent Jamyang Tsering Namgyal (JTN) today submitted his resignation from the post because of his being elected as Member of Parliament in the recently held Lok Sabha polls. Gyal Wangyal, who is presently Deputy CEC of LAHDC Leh, is front runner in the race for the top post even as a formal decision in this regard will be taken after the arrival of State BJP observers, Ashok Koul and Dr Narinder Singh here soon for a meeting with all the Councilors, sources told the Excelsior. Meanwhile, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal today submitted resignation from his present post of CEC of the 5th Hill Council Leh in presence of CEO LAHDC Leh Avny Lavasa, Deputy Chairman Gyal P Wangyal and Executive Councilors today. JTN was elected as the 3rd CEC of ruling BJP party in the 5 year tenure of 5th Hill Council on November 9, 2018. He resigned from the seat to hold the post of MP Ladakh in Lok Sabha after his recent victory from Ladakh Assembly Constituency in the Lok Sabha Election 2019. Talking to media persons, JTN expressed satisfaction over the developmental benchmarks achieved in the past six and half months. JTN said that with holding the MP seat, his responsibility has doubled and he gave full assurance to serve the people of Ladakh with greater dedication, hard work and high spirit in the next 5 years to fulfill their developmental aspirations. He also assured to have a much capable and dynamic leader as the next CEC of Hill Council in coming weeks. Later, a farewell party was also organized by the staff of Council Secretariat to bid adieu to JTN at Council's conference hall today.
