Grant paid holiday to employees on poll day: Admn

JAMMU, Apr 9: Divisional administration, Jammu has asked all private sectors, industrial and commercial units in all districts of 6-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency to adhere to the instructions of Election Commission of India regarding granting paid holiday to employees on the day of poll, i.e., April 10, 2014.
Under Section 135B of Representation of Peoples Act 1951, the employees on the day of poll are to be granted paid holiday to vote at elections and as such every person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking etc is entitled for a paid holiday besides the daily wage/casual workers are also entitled for a holiday and wages on poll day as provided in Section 135B of RP Act 1951.
Divisional administration has asked all employees and industrial units to adhere to the provisions and provide paid holiday on April 10 in all districts of 6-Jammu Parliamentary Constituency i.e in Samba, Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri.
