Srinagar, Jan 23: The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of GMC, Srinagar and Associated Hospitals today expressed shock over the Government’s draft proposal on the diversion of administrative powers of Principals of Government Medical Colleges to Administrators while it terming the move as ‘outrageous’.
“RDA feels that the proposed draft is outrageous and demeans the chair of the Principal of the Medical Colleges. It is against the interests of Undergraduates/Postgraduates and other students of medical and paramedical fields,” RDA said in a statement issued here.
RDA said that the proposal will be detrimental to patient care also as the proper understanding of the medical issues can be done by a person who belongs to the same field.
“At a time when the medical community is fighting a tough battle with the global pandemic, such acts would lead to demoralizing and destabilizing the will of the working doctors.”
RDA said that it supports the stand of MFA in which similar concerns have been raised against the said proposal.
“RDA urges the Government to withdraw the proposed draft which is in contravention to the chair of the head of the institution and can potentially disrupt the normal working environment of the institution,” it said.
