Govt teacher arrested for raping minor on marriage pretext

JAMMU, Feb 23: A Government teacher has been arrested for raping a minor girl on the pretext of marriage in Manoh area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
As per police sources, a 17-year-old minor girl hailing from Manoh area of Akhnoor used to accompany her mother, who was working as helper in Government Middle School (GMC) Fanwal, to help her in kitchen works in the institution.
A teacher of the institution namely Susheel Sharma, son of Sukhdev Raj, a resident of Manoh, tehsil Akhnoor after taking benefit of innocence created intimacy with her daughter and promised to marry her.
On February 2, at around 1 pm, Susheel Sharma took the minor to a secluded place near the school and made physical relations after giving her some sedatives.
After raping the minor, the accused refused to marry her and threatened of dire consequences if she revealed the episode to anyone. The accused later fled from the spot.
The girl after mustering courage narrated the ordeal to her parents today, who reported the matter to Akhnoor police station.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 35/16 under Section 376 RPC was registered at Akhnoor police station and the girl was handed over to parents after conducting medical examination.
On specific information, a team from Akhnoor police station conducted raid and arrested the accused teacher.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor police station Inspector Pushpinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Gurvinderpal Singh, SP Rural Rajiv Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
