JAMMU Aug 6:  Even as a number of organizations of teachers have extended their support to the agitating Rehbar-e-Taleem, who are protesting against Government decision of conducting screening test of all ReTs, the General Line Teachers Forum has welcomed the Government move.
A meeting of General Line Teachers Forum was convened under the chairmanship of its president Neeraj Sharma, here today and welcomed the steps initiated by Education Minister, including screening tests for all ReTs and verification of their education degrees.
Neeraj Sharma also condemned those who are opposing the long awaited and much needed measures, which would go a long way in cleansing the Education Department from undesirable and unsuitable lots there by improving the standard of education.
On the other hand, United School Teacher reiterated its support to the ReTs during a meeting, held at Samba under the leadership of Raj Kumar Sharma.  USTA alleged that instead of releasing salary grants under SSA and RMSA on time, the Government was  hell bent  to harass and defame the whole ReT community, which  played a key role to revive the educational activities in the defunct schools during the turmoil in the rural and far flung areas.
Kabla Singh, general secretary of Provincial Teachers Association has also condemned the Education Department for holding the screening test of ReTs. He warned the Education Department to resists from holding such type of test as ReTs have been appointed under proper norms of the Government. He also asked the Education authorities to release the salary grant of ReTs Teacher immediately.
