Govt denies GPF amount to employees: CTEA

JAMMU, Mar 30: J&K Commercial Taxes (NG) Employees Association (CTEA) has alleged that Government was denying GPF amount to the employees without any reason.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of Nazir Ahmed Bhat, president of the body, the members expressed strong resentment over the delay being caused by the Government to release the GPF amount of the employees. They pointed out that many employees have applied for the payment of their hard earned money in view of the marriage of their daughters, construction/ repair of houses and also to meet the expenditure on account of various ailments/ medical treatment. Unfortunately, the Finance Department has not released the amount for the last few months.
Mr Nazir further pointed out that 62 employees of their department approached the Association alleging that inspite of deducting the GPF amount from the salaries of the employees during April 2014 vide Tr No. 16 dated 3-5-2014 with A/C Head 2040, the same has not been credited into their respective GP Fund accounts for the last two years. Citing yet another example Nazir said from the A/C No. 820012950 the amount deducted during the year 2013-14 is Rs 83,966 but the credit shown in the GPF Schedule is only Rs 46522 including interest.
He said there are many such cases pertaining to other departments. This creates great loss to the employees while some `middle men’ (Babus) are getting benefit. They demanded high level probe into the matter and action against the erring officials. When the Association approached Treasury Officer Gandhinagar and even the Director Accounts and Treasures Jammu there was no satisfactory reply. In Gandhinagar Treasury alone there is pendency of such cases worth Rs 8.5 crore.
The Association has sought the intervention of Commissioner Secretary Finance, Chief Secretary and the Governor to resolve this issue and also hold an inquiry into the matter. It was suggested that GP Fund amount should be directly deposited in the banks against the accounts of the employees with a slab according to prescribed rules and regulations.
