Govt constitutes Broadband Committee

JAMMU, July 10: For implementation of National Broadband Mission in Jammu and Kashmir, the UT Government has constituted a Broadband Committee.
The committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, as its Chairman, shall advise on the matters relating to accomplishment of the objectives of the mission concerning the UT of J&K and facilitate implementation of the guidelines issued by the Governing Council or Steering Committee enabling expansion of Broadband services for the socio-economic development of the UT.
The committee shall address all matters regarding Broadband Readiness Index (BRI) and also monitor and evaluate the work of mission pertaining to the UT.
The 10-member committee is comprising Administrative Secretaries of Information Technology Department, HUDD, PW(R&B) Department, Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment; Senior Deputy Director General, J&K LSA, Department of Telecommunication, J&K; CGM BSNL, J&K; CGM Bharat Broadband Network Limited, J&K; representative from Cellular Operators Association of India, New Delhi and representative from Towers and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA), New Delhi.
