Srinagar, Dec 31: With the end of the term of Dr A.G. Ahangar as Director today, the Government appointed Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Koul as the new Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura.
Dr Koul who was the Ex-Professor and Head of the Department, General Medicine has been appointed after the interview for the selection of the Director SKIMS was held on December 28 by a selection committee approved by the Government.
The Government had earlier issued a list of 15 shortlisted candidates after the applications for the filling up of the post of Director SKIMS were invited in September this year. The list comprised several top doctors including an ex-Principal, SKIMS MC&H, Bemina besides a few technocrats.
After the interview, selection has been approved by LG Manoj Sinha who is also the Chairman of the SKIMS Governing Body.
“As approved by the Chairman, Governing Body, SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar (Lieutenant Governor), Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Koul, ex-Professor and Head of Department, General Medicine, SKIMS, is hereby appointed as Director, Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, Srinagar with effect from 01.01.2022,” read an order issued here.
The appointment of Dr Koul has come after the interview was held by the selection panel sanctioned by the Government comprising Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary and Dr Randeep Guleria Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
The panel also comprised Dr Surjit Singh, Director Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, Prof. M C Mishra, former Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and Vivek Bhardwaj, Financial Commissioner, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department.
