Governor, CM greet people on Gurupurab

JAMMU, Nov 5: Governor N. N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s birthday.
In a message of greetings, the Governor described Guru Nanak Dev Ji as an apostle of peace and tolerance, adding that his teachings would continue to inspire generations, leading them to the path of righteousness and brotherhood. He said that Guruji strove all his life for social justice & equality & to bring about peace & harmony in the society.
The Governor hoped that the auspicious occasion would further strengthen brotherhood, communal harmony, amity and secular traditions and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in his Gurupurab message has urged people to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday with simplicity and keeping in mind the plight of sufferers of devastating flood and miseries of border shelling affected families.
The Chief Minister called for dedicating this year’s Gurupurab to the flood sufferers and the sufferers of border shelling population. He asked the people to contribute greatly for the rehabilitation and welfare of affected families.
Omar Abdullah prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the State and its people.
