JAMMU, Nov 5: Various educational institutions celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti ‘Gurpurab’ with fervour and gaiety, here today. KC International School, Jammu celebrated Gurpurab with great enthusiasm and fervour.
The celebration started with a prayer. The students spoke on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, making others to know about the life history of 10th Sikh Gurus.
They were inspired to lead a life like Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The students of Class IV and V also presented a skit, which depicted the bravery and valour of the Khalsa pant.
Speaking on the occasion, School Principal, Dr Ravi Bhushan, while wishing the students a happy ‘Gurpurab’, impressed upon them that the true religion is ‘Humanity’ only.
Special Assembly on the eve of Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was conducted by the Stephens International Public School in which the students presented kirtan and the Panj Pyaras recited the mool mantar.
The children were dressed in Punjabi attires and looked very impressive.
The School Director, Satvinder Saini wished everyone happy Gurpurab. The students were also enlightened about the historical background of Guru Nanak Dev.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated Gurpurab by organizing a special assembly, wherein the students and the teachers presented holy Shabad. Prabhjot Singh of class VI spoke about the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Devi Ji with message of unity and harmony. A special visit was organized for classes Prep-II at Gurudwara Fateh Singh Sahib Gandhi Nagar were the students and staff offered prayers.
Rohini Aima, Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson apprised the students about the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and said to follow the path of universal brotherhood and peace.
To promote national integration and communal harmony, the NSS unit of Govt College of Education celebrated ‘Gurpurab’ in the College premises, today.
Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Ajeet Angral addressed the students and spread the message of harmony and oneness which reminded the message of Guru Nanak Dev JI.
During the celebration BEd students presented ‘Shabad’, thereafter ‘langar’ was organized in which ‘prasad’ was distributed to all faculty members and students.
Mohinder Singh, Principal, DIET, Jammu graced the occasion with his presence.
Prof Ashu Jolly, NSS Coordinator presented the vote of thanks.
On the eve of Gurpurab, the students of MV International School, transcending all religious barriers participated in a special assembly, where a special performance of Shabad Kirtan was done by Ragis from Gurudwara who filled the air with a sense of peace and tranquility by their Gurubani Recital.
Finally, the “Karah Prasad” was distributed to all the students, teachers and non teaching staff after the Ardaas.
The spiritual ambience of the devotional songs and chants was attended by all students, teachers, non teaching staff, school Director and the Principal.
On the eve of Gurpurab today a grand function was organized at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public Higher Secondary School Kunjawani in the School premises. A large number of students participated in it. Students of different houses recited shabad kirtan, religious poems and satsang related to guru Ji.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of the School, Prof Harbans Singh threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Prashad was served to all the students and staff members on the occasion.

A Seminar on the topic “The Ideology of Guru Nanak Dev and today’s Society” organized by District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and Ranjit College of Education today in the Auditorium, RCE, Kunjwani, here today.
Giani Kewal Singh, former Jathedar of Anandpur Sahib Punjab was the chief guest and S Daleep Singh presided over the function.
S Manmeet Singh, chairman, Ranjit Educational Trust, S. Manjeet Singh, general secretary DGPC, G Q Sheikh, renowned writer and intellectual and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
Kartar Public School, Barnoti, Kathua Celebrated 546th Birthday of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the premises of Kartar Public School, Barnoti S.Charanjeet singh President DGPC Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion and Er. Nirmaljit Singh Amn Chairman Kartar Educational Trust,Barnoti Presided.
While speaking on the occasion S.Charanjeet Singh said that Guru Nanak Dev ji took birth in the time when social evils like on touch ability hatredness in the name of caste,creed and colour, massacres on conversion of religions were everywhere.
Earlier, the students of KPS recited the shabad by performing kirtan. Er Nirmaljit Singh also spoke on the occasion.
