JAMMU, Aug 6: Deputy Speaker, State Legislative Assembly Sartaj Madni and PDP MLA, Abdul Rehman Veeri have strongly condemned the murder of a migrant by some goons in Jagti township.
The PDP leaders held the Government responsible for the incident and said that despite the demand of the camp inmates to install a police post in the camp the authorities paid no attention to it till date.
They said the migrants who have been forced to flee from the Valley due to turmoil in 1989-90 are already leading a distressed life as they have to leave their all movable and immovable property behind. Instead of settling their problems the Government has added to their miseries by imposing the 16 hour power cuts in this hot and humid Summer.
The PDP leaders said that it was due to the callousness of the Government that the migrants were facing the multiple problems at Jagti camp which include lack of water supply also.
The PDP leaders, while assuring full support to migrants said that Party will take up the issue in Assembly during the coming session.
They said the migrants were cheated on the name of so-called PM’s employment package as out of 6000 posts announced by Dr Manmohan Singh only 1450 posts were filled up last six years as the State Government showed no interest in providing jobs to the hapless people.
Meanwhile, All Displaced Kashmir Pandit United Forum while condemning the killing ahs also demanded installation of police post at Jagti to avert such incidents in future.
The Forum chairman D N Kissu while addressing its meeting here today appealed the Government to install a police post without any delay in the camp and solve the other problems of the community.
Lok Janshakti party leader Sanjay Saraf while condemning the murder has asked the Government to ensure security of migrants putting up at Jagti camp.
