Girl jumps into Chenab, saved by Army

JAMMU, June 25: Army personnel today rescued a young girl who had jumped into Chenab river along the border in Pragwal area allegedly to kill herself.
According to Defense spokesman, Lt Col Manish Mehta, an 18-year-old girl from Pragwal village jumped into the Chenab river this afternoon, after having some argument with her family.
He said that the incident was noticed by the local Army unit personnel, who immediately organized the rescue operation and saved the girl from deep waters of river Chenab.
“The girl was immediately administered first aid by the nursing assistant of the Army unit and later handed over to her parents”, he added.
