JAMMU, July 1: A young girl today committed suicide by jumping into Tawi River from main bridge near Mandir-Masjid point in this winter capital of the State.
“A girl identified as Pooja (24) daughter of Dev Raj, resident of Janipur, this morning jumped into River Tawi from Nowabad area,’’ a police spokesman said. He said that the girl suffered critical injuries and fell unconscious.

“The injured girl was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries at about 9 pm,’’ the spokesman said, adding, the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital.
He said it was not immediately clear as to why the girl took such extreme step. The Nowabad police had taken cognizance of the matter.
