JAMMU, Feb 6: In a major achievement, the Government College for Women, Parade Jammu, has been conferred the autonomous status by University Grants Commission for a period of six years.
The colleges will now be able to enjoy the academic autonomy by way of conducting examination on its own and formulating own syllabi thus lowering the burden of the Jammu University.
According to Principal of GCW Parade, Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Islamia College of Commerce Srinagar is the only college other than Govt College for Women Parade Jammu, which has been conferred the autonomous status by the UGC.
Pertinent to mention that a high level team of UGC had visited the Parade College last month for assessing the infrastructure and other facilities in the college for according the rare distinction of autonomous status.
