Ganga reaffirms Govt’s commitment towards empowerment of underprivileged

JAMMU, Dec 26: Reaffirming Government’s commitment towards socio-economic empowerment of underprivileged and downtrodden sections of the society, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, today said that several measures have been launched by Centre and the State Governments in this regard.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by Rural Development Department, at Panchayat Kartholi to distribute authorization of financial assistance worth Rs 17.64 lakh and Rs 20.80 lakh among the beneficiaries under centrally sponsored schemes Swachh Bharat Mission and Pradhan Mantri AwasYojna, respectively.
It was informed that under Swachh Bharat Mission the department has provided financial assistance of Rs 12,000 each to 147 beneficiaries and Rs 1.59 lakh each to 16 beneficiaries under PMAY.
Ganga exhorted upon the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of various social security schemes being implemented for their welfare and development. He also asked them to ensure their participation and monitoring in execution of development works being done in their respective areas for effective results.
The Minister asked the concerned officers to raise maximum awareness among the people regarding various welfare and development schemes so that they improve their lives by taking benefit of the same. He directed them to conduct fresh survey under several schemes so that the left-out beneficiaries are also covered and no one is deprived of the benefit of Government programmes.
Earlier, the Minister paid rich tributes to Rifleman Swaran Singh of village Ranjri, Samba on his 16th Martyr Day at a function organized in this regard by the local people of the village to commemorate his martyrdom.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister said that the people of Jammu have a history of serving the nation and sacrificing their lives for the motherland. The young generation must take inspiration from such sacrifices and contribute towards nation building.
Paying homage to the martyr, the Minister saluted him for his bravery and supreme sacrifice and exhorted upon the youth to work together against corruption and other similar social evils to give a true tribute to the martyr.
