JAMMU, Sept 15:- A delegation of “All J&K Gaddi Sippi Tribes Welfare Association-GSTWA” led by its State President Parveen Jaryal called on Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh here today and discussed their problems with him.
The delegation apprised him of various issues of Gaddi and Sippi Tribes which need immediate attention of the State Government for their redressal. Mr Jaryal asserted that due to inordinate delay in completion and handing over of the Gaddi Sippi hostel at Udhampur by PWD , the students of downtrodden Gaddi Sippi communities are suffering badly. In this context Deputy Chief Minister issued verbal instructions to the Chief Engineer PWD for early completion and handing over of the Gaddi Sippi hostel at Udhampur to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs J&K Government so that the underprivileged students of these communities could avail themselves of the hostel facility from the current academic session.
The other demands projected by the delegation include establishment of ST Boys Hostel at Bani and ST Girls Hostel at Ramban under the auspices of centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs Government of India, recognition of Gaddi language in 6th Schedule of Constitution representation of Gaddi Sippi communities in Tribal Advisory groups at district level and State level, earmarking of funds for development of Gaddi Sippi tribes in the annual State budget, establishment of an Advisory Board for Development of Gaddi Sippi tribes etc.
The Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that he will take up the issues of these communities with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs J&K Government as well as with Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs
Others who accompanied the delegation include Sunil Singh Katoch (State Joint Secretary), Shanker Chand (Dist. President Udhampur), Prof B P Singh Chouhan (former State President) and Abhinesh Kumar (Distt Cashier Doda).
