JAMMU, May 24: The Friendship Cricket Cup Series-III, 2015 organized by Swabhiman Charitable Trust in Jammu concluded with the final match won by Deewana Mandir Cricket Club by defeating its rival Mubarak Mandi team.
After winning the toss, the Deewana Mandir team choose to bat first and scored 76 runs in 12 overs, wherein Sanjay scored 20 runs and. Peter 17. Arpit and Abhishek of Mubarak Mandi team got 3 wickets each.
Mubarak Mandi team while batting could score only 52 runs with five wickets in hand (six players out).. Lakhan and Dekker scored 19 and 12 runs respectively. Vishal, Sheru and Nitin of Deewana Mandir team got 2 wickets each.
Cheenu and Rajat were the umpires while Sachin was the scorer.
In this Cricket Series, which was inaugurated on April 11, 2015 and concluded on May 22, 2015, 48 teams from Jammu participated and a total of 38 matches were played including the final.
Sanjay of Deewana Mandir was declared as man of the match while Dekker of Mubarak Mandi team was declared as man of the series.
The winners’ team of Deewana Mandir was presented the Championship Trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 by Vikram Malhotra, General Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, who was the chief guest on this occasion.
All the matches of this Day & Night Tournament were played at historic DBN Grounds in Mubarak Mandi, Jammu and it was sponsored by X-Gen Garments, 17 Miles, Shri Hira Lal & Sons and Yes I Can Change (Lal Kitab).
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Malhotra, lauded the players for their overall performance and sportsmanship exhibited by them in the tournament. He stressed upon the youth to keep themselves abreast with the sports activities while they continue with their studies.
