Fresh settlement of revenue record must before digitization: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Jan 7: Senior leader of National Conference and former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said that fresh settlement of revenue land record is must before its digitalization otherwise it will be a futile exercise.
In a statement issued today, he said settlement of Revenue record has not been done after Independence and what so far has been done in the name of settlement has been done half heartedly, without applying mind and without taking into confidence the stake holders which has led to thousands of litigations in different Courts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sadhotra alleged that in many cases Revenue Record has been manipulated to settle scores among the villagers by conniving with field staff. A’s land has been recorded in B’s name and for making corrections poor farmers are being exploited. He asked the administration to ensure fair and transparent settlement.
Former Minister emphasized the need of fresh settlement of Revenue record by involving all stake holders to reduce the number of litigations in different courts and also demanded issue of Digital Land Records Pass Books to farmers so that they could be saved from exploitation.
