SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Government Registered Contractors Coordination Union working with the PHE Department’s Budgam division today demanded changes in tendering reforms in the department saying that no provision has been kept for their participation in the process.
A spokesperson of the Union said last month the Government issued an order with number 460-PW (Hyd) regarding the reform of the tendering process in the Public Health and Engineering/ Irrigation and Flood Control Department.
However, he said, while going through the order it is unfortunate to inform that no provision has been kept for the registered contractors to participate in the tendering process. “We apprehend to become jobless resulting in suffering of thousands of families affiliated directly or indirectly,” he said.
He said keeping in view the deteriorated economy of the valley the department should consider their services of the contractors and modify the order.
He added the contractors have worked during the difficult times and even the scarcity of the funds have not stopped them from working.
The contractors also hoped that their liability with the department against the work done would be cleared by the end of March.
