UDHAMPUR, Mar 6: A free eye surgical camp was organized by Rotary Eye Hospital in collaboration with District Blindness Control Society and Rotary Club Udhampur at Rotary Eye and ENT Hospital Udhampur.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr Chander Parkash, Chief Medical Officer Udhampur. The main objective of the camp has to provide gift of sight to the poor patients who have already being screened by the team of Optometrist of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur.
First batch of 26 patients were operated free of cost by Dr Ankur Goel, Phaco and Vitreoretinal Surgeon of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur. Dr Ankur Goel expressed the need for prevention of avoidable blindness in the service area.
The patient who were operated yesterday were discharged today. All the patients have regained their vision. Dr Ankur Goel Eye Surgeon restored the vision of a budding kid namely Bushan Kumar, 9 years old who was totally blind due to traumatic cataract.
The next batch of the patients who has already been screened will be operated on 12th & 13th March 2016.
The Chairman of Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur, Rtn D N Sharma assured the DBCS to organize such more camps in rural area of Udhampur dist till the whole of the Distt is avoidable blindness free.
