JAMMU Apr 6: Former MLC and senior National Conference leader, Rattan Lal Gupta today expressed concern over the reported termination of the paramedical staff engaged by the Government under SRO-24, saying that this is sheer injustice, especially at a time when the humanity is grappling with horrendous Coronavirus and there is larger need of the health workers.
Referring to the recent protest by the aggrieved staff in the premises of Medical College Associate Hospital Kathua, Gupta said that they had to go for strike instead of getting engaged in fight against the pandemic.
He said medics and paramedics are the frontline warriors in global fight against COVID-19 and the Government must acknowledge this reality and come to the rescue of these protesting paramedics by sympathetically considering their demands.
“The reported termination appears to be illogical, as the Governments across the country are urging the retired medical professionals to help in the prevailing situation but those performing their duties are being made to stage protests,” said Gupta, hoping that the administration will look into the issue earnestly and redress the grievances of protesting paramedics.
He urged the administration to intensify the measures of providing essentials to such segments of the society who were totally dependent on daily earnings and are rendered jobless due to mandatory lockdown.
