While inaugurating these centres at different locations including Sohajana, Parladhpur (Tawi Island Area), Gajansoo, Marh and Channu Chak, former minister said that the Government is keen to enable the farmer by providing handsome value of their products and that’s why the Government has opened these centres to facilitate them.
He asserted that the motive behind opening of these centres was to ensure that the farmers must get at least Minimum Support Price (MSP) at their doorsteps by by-passing the middleman. He informed that this year the Government has approved rate of wheat Rs 1975 per quintal which will be procured by the Food Corporation of India as private players in the market procuring the same at Rs.1700/per quintal.
Former Minister also urged the Government to abolish the condition in which FCI seek from farmer a copy of ‘Land Girdawri’ and a certificate from agriculture department which certify that how much kanals of wheat crops the farmer has cultivated, before procuring the crops.
“It becomes an unnecessary harassment to the gullible farmers as they have to approach the Revenue as well as Agriculture Departments to get the same,” he added.
He also appealed the UT Govt to announce compensation in favour of the farmers whose crops have been destroyed recently due to accidental fire in Jammu division.
DDC Marh Balbir Lal, BDC Marh Surinder Kumar along with officials of FCI and Agricultural Department including SDO Ashwani Kumar Jojra, AEO Vikrant were also present during the event.
