RAJOURI, June 7: In view of the increasing hot weather conditions, major forest fire has been reported from some areas of Nowshera sector of district Rajouri.
Official sources said that forest fire has reportedly engulfed the areas like Kalsian, Jhangar, Chowki- Handan and some areas of Lam sector in Nowshera. The fire flames have covered a larger area, posing threat to the surrounding hamlets and defence installations.
The official from Forest department with the help of locals have launched operation to contain the fire flames. The Army was also assisting the Forest staff to extinguish the fire. However, no significant loss of public property has been reported. Flora and fauna has suffered a major loss, the sources added.
