SRINAGAR, June 7: The final selection trials for the Indian Wushu Team for the 20th Asian Games are being conducted at SKISC, Srinagar, with top athletes showcasing their skills in pursuit of national selection.
Ansa Chishti (52 kg), Surya Bhanu Pratap (65 kg) and Mohd Ali (65 kg) advanced to the finals after delivering impressive performances during the ongoing trials. The finals are scheduled to be held on June 8, commencing at 10 am.
According to the Asian Games selection criteria, a total of 13 athletes will be shortlisted, including six Sanda players (four men and two women) and seven Taolu players (four men and three women).
Following the selection process, the Indian team will continue its training camp at SKISC till June 23 before participating in the SCO Wushu Championship in Hubei Province from June 24 to 29. The contingent will subsequently undergo a month-long foreign exposure training camp at Beijing Sport University as part of its preparation for the 20th Asian Games.
Among those present during the trials were Vijay Saraf, Suhel Ahmed, Sadat Nasir, Aslam Wani, Bhavneet, members of the WAI Selection Committee, Kuldeep Handoo and M. Sadananda Singh, who closely monitored the proceedings.
