JAMMU, July 3: A delegation of the members of J&K Forest Contractors Association called on Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Jammu and discussed their issues here today.
Led by Sanjay Gupta, president of the Association, the members urged upon the CCF to consider the policy on minor forest products in J&K for Forest contractors/ unit holders. They demanded a comprehensive package for the Forest contractors as their trade which was banned since 2004 and started again in 2016, was facing crisis due to prevailing circumstances.
The Association urged upon the CCF Jammu to start tendering process during early months of the year so that extraction of the MFP could be carried out timely and before snowfall. They also sought some relief for the contractors engaged in this trade.
They pointed out that industrial unit holders did not have any resource of raw material which resulted them to face closure. The stake holders are suffering badly as no package or relief was provided to them despite ban after 2004.
The CCF listened to their issues patiently and also directed CF Chenab Circle Doda for taking appropriate measures in this regard. He said some of their issues will be taken up with the senior officers of the department.
