Forecast of widespread rains

Srinagar, Mar 10:  Jammu and Kashmir is likely to hit by a Western Disturbance (WD) from tomorrow till March 14 which could lead to widespread rain or snow on Saturday and Sunday.
A Meteorological Department official said here that there could be widespread rain or snow in the Kashmir valley and Jammu region from tomorrow till March 14. “Isolated rain is predicted in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours followed by scattered and isolated rains during subsequent three days”, the officials said.
Against yesterdays 0.4 degree, the minimum temperature at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was 1.8 degree, five notches above normal. The normal day temperature was recorded at 10 degree Celsius which is 6 notches above normal.
At Pahalgam, the minimum temperature recorded more than a notch improvement. Against minus 0.5 degree minimum temperature, it was 0.6 degree, two notches above normal. The day temperature of the place was recorded at 19.8 degree Celsius which is 8 degree above normal.
Qazigund recorded 3.2 degree, Kokernag 4.7 degrees and Kupwara 3.2 degrees minimum temperature which was two to three degrees above normal. The day temperature of Qazigund, Kokernag and Kupwara was recorded at 21.5 degree Celsius, 19.8 degree Celsius and 22.6 degree Celsius respectively.
The summer capital, Srinagar, also recorded further surge in the minimum temperature. Against yesterday’s 3.7 degrees, it was 4.5 degrees, 1.5 notches above normal. The day temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 20.5 degree Celsius which is 6.5 notches above normal.
There could be rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 19 degree and 5 degree respectively in the city during the next 24 hours.
The MeT official said that there will be widespread rains on Saturday and Sunday in Kashmir and Jammu regions and scattered rains on Monday.
