Some forces trying to distort history on role of Pt Nehru to build India: Mir

JAMMU/ SRINAGAR, May 27: Remembering first Prime Minister of India on his 54th death anniversary, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today organized various functions  across the State and paid floral tributes to Pt Jawaharlal Nehru and recalled his selfless services to the nation.
While addressing a large function in this connection at  Chatha Bhour Camp in Gandhi Nagar constituency  today PCC chief GA Mir said that it was the leadership of Gandhi- Nehru which inspired the people of Kashmir and their leadership to reject the two nation theory of Jinnah and  decided to seal their fate with a secular India.
PCC chief reminded the  people and the workers of the historical role played by Pt Nehru viz- a- viz Jammu and Kashmir and  said that it was the leadership of Nehru – Gandhi which inspired the Kashmiri people. Launching a scathing attack on those forces who are trying to distort history and mislead the present future generations about the historical role  played by Pt Nehru on Kashmir, he said that either they are unaware of his role  or trying to mislead the nation because of their political interests.
Taking a dig at PDP and BJP coalition, PCC chief said that the two diametrically opposite forces have betrayed their electorate when they entered into power sharing arrangement devoid of any ideological meeting point because of their contradictory and divergent approach to each and every sensitive issue and aspect of the State.
Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that the treachery and deceit of the BJP is haunting Jammu people who reposed their unflinching faith and support to it with the hope that Jammu may perhaps get a better deal as during the days of its wilderness in the opposition, the BJP leaders were crying hoarse over discrimination and neglect. He made a particular mention of the BJP and dared its ministers to list their achievements with regard to fulfilling the developmental needs of the Jammu region.
Former MP  and veteran leader Madan Lal Sharma, former ministers  Mula Ram, Mohd Sharief Niaz, RS Chib, PCC chief spokesman  Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma,  Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh, Ch Shah Nawaz, Faqir Nath, PYC chief Pranav Shagotra, BS Sambyal from Seva Dal,  Neeraj Kundan-NSUI, Kuldeep Verma, Krishan Lal Gupta, YV Sharma,  Gurdarshan Singh, Pawan Raina, Satish Sharma and others were the prominent who paid tributes.
At Srinagar, a meeting of senior party leaders and activists under the chairmanship of Abdul Gani Khan   was held today, in which Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Pt  Nehru on  his 54th death anniversary, lauding his leadership qualities.
Addressing the meeting, Congress leaders lauded the role played by first Prime Minister of India, who brought the nation at par with the developing countries of that time. They best way to pay homage to Pt. Ji was to follow his foot steps and works for unity, harmony and development of people irrespective of caste, colour or creed, they said.
Among others who addressed the meeting included Shameema Iqbal, Irfan Naqib, Mohd Sultan, Abid Kashmiri, Mushtaq Ahmad Khnday, Mushtaq Ahmad Bazaz, Farhat Qureshi, GA Gulzar, Shameema Khan and others.
To commemorate the 54th death anniversary of  Pt  Nehru, Congress activists organized function at RS Pura today. Pardesh Congress secretary Pawan Raina presided over the function whereas; dozens of party activists paid floral tributes to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.
DCC Kathua held a function to commemorate the death anniversary of first Prime Minister of India  on Sunday. DCC president and Ex-MLC Subash Gupta presided over the function where as so many  party activists paid floral tributes to Pt Nehru.
Prominent among others who attended included Jugal Bali, Anant Ram Dogra, Murari Lal, Dhrub Singh, Romesh Kundal, Parveen Bhagat, Ajeet Chander,  KC Bhagat,  Raj Kumar and  Rameshwar Sharma.
MLC Thakur Balbir Singh also paid rich tributes to Pt Nehru in a function held at Billawar today. He also criticised BJP for war like situation on border and said that people have been left on the mercy of God.
Congress Seva Dal Kishtwar unit and youth Congress jointly organised a function at District Congress office and paid tributes to Late Jawahar Lal Nehru on his death anniversary.  Ravi Kumar Shan, Noor Hussain, Randeep Bhandari, Waseem Maker , Riaz Ahmed and others attended the function.
At Udhampur DCC organised a function under the chairmanship of DCC  president Ashok Gupta. Large number of party workers participated in the function.
The other prominent leaders who addressed the gathering included Ex -M L A  Krishan Chander Bhagat, Vinod Khajuria, Ashok Bakshi,Manav Upadhy, Mohan Lal Kalsotra, Om Prakash,  Vijay Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Sharief Hussain and Kartar Chand.
In Rajouri district  a function was organized by the District and Block Congress Committee Nowshera, Lamberi, Seri and Qila Darhal in which prominent  delegates of PCC and DCC paid rich tributes to Pt Nehru. The function was presided over by  Som Raj Heer-Block president Nowshera and attended by BCC presidents Chander Bakshi, Rajinder Singh, Raj Kumar, besides Baisakhi Ram, Mukund Lal, Ex-Sarpanch, Pt Tilak Raj, Hav Hoshiar Dass,  S. Isher Singh and others.
