Beg appeals all stakeholders to grab opportunity of talks

JAMMU, May 27: In the wake of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement to a TV channel that Center is ready to hold dialogue with the Hurriyat Conference leadership if the separatists come forward for talks, senior PDP leader and former Member of Parliament, Dr Mehboob Beg, today appealed all the stakeholders of Kashmir to grab the opportunity and use it for putting an end to the sufferings of the people of Kashmir.
“We have had opportunities in the past, we have our own reasons to be apprehensive and cynical, however, we must approach the present scenario with a positive outlook and not let the past events weigh us down”, said Beg.
Dr Mehboob Beg also lauded the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh for adopting a very flexible and pragmatic approach towards Kashmir and added that the Chief Minister’s perseverance combined with the Union Home Minister’s flexible approach gave hope to the Kashmiris. “We are hearing the right voices now, the ground is being set for talks with all the stakeholders, this is encouraging”, remarked Beg.
“The Chief Minister has been making relentless efforts with the sole motive of ensuring peace in the Valley. She has not only withstood the rather unhealthy verbal attacks from the opposition, but also succeeded in making the Government of India soften its stand vis-a-vis Kashmir”, Beg said.
Beg also added that the softening of stand on Kashmir as well as adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach by the Union Government was in tune with the Agenda of Alliance which was entered into, under the watchful eye and guidance of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
