Folk music programme ‘Duggar De Geet’ organized

JAMMU, Jan 31:  Society for Environment, Education and Modern Arts (SEEMA) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Language today organized Dogri folk music programme “Duggar De Geet” at K L Sehgal Hall Jammu.
Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal was chief guest on the occasion.
Programme started with lighting of traditional lamp followed by Dogri folk songs sung by eminent folk singers of Jammu region. Seema Dogra, noted singer of the State, enthralled the audience with her sweet voice. Performances of eminent singers, including Santosh Bandral, Suraj, Dimple Paul, Shallu Dogra and Ricky Singh were also appreciated by the audience. Rakesh Khanna accompanied the artist on flute, Ricky Singh on harmonium and Sonu accompanied on Dholak. Senior actress Sapna Soni hosted the programme.
While speaking on the occasion, Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that these kind of programmes provide platform to the folk artists and also showcase rich culture of our State.  “Local artists can play a significant role in promotion of Dogri language, culture, art and music. Besides, there is a need of the hour that artists have to come out to spread awareness among the society that if we fail to carry forward our legacy among the younger generation, the day will not be far when our Dogra culture will get perish,” Zorawar Singh stressed and assured the gathering that volunteers of Team Jammu would support all those platforms  promoting Dogri language, culture and art.
