SAMBA, Feb 20: A father -son duo was killed and three others were injured seriously when a van in which they were travelling was hit by a Trailer on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Mansar Morh here in the wee hours today.

The deceased have been identified as Hans Raj, 70 and his 35 year old son Sohan Lal residents of Ramgarh Samba. Both died on the spot. The impact of the accident was so grave that the van was completely smashed.
Both the vehicles were coming from Kathua side and the accident took place near Mansar Morh around 2 am, a police official said.
He said Hans Raj and his son Sohan Lal (35), residents of Ramgarh area of Samba, died on the spot, while three others Ramesh Chander (60), Himant Kumar (35) and Gorav Kumar (18) were taken to Samba hospital in a serious condition where from doctors referred them to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu (GMCH) after giving first aid.
Police said the van bearing registration number JK21E 7482 was hit by one Trailer bearing Regd No.RJ31GA/5881 which was on way from Ludhiana (Punjab) to Vijaypur side.
Samba police has registered a case under relevant Sections of the law and started investigation in this regard. The driver of the Trailer fled after the accident and police has started his search. However the trailer has been seized by Samba police.
