RAJOURI, Feb 20: Prof Akbar Masood, the new Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri, took stock of the situation and held extensive interactive sessions with the Deans, HoDs, Faculties and Non-teaching staff of the University.
He emphasized that his main focus is to instill a culture of professionalism, much needed discipline and academic excellence. He assured all the stake holders that he firmly believes in goal oriented actions which can take the BGSBU to new heights of academic excellence.
In a short span of just one week, many significant decisions to streamline the functioning of the University have been taken. In compliance to Government guidelines, the notification regarding resumption of offline classes in a phased manner has been issued. Extensive measures have been taken to sanitize the campus following standard Covid-19 SOPs. The dining hall facility in conformity with all Covid-19 protocol will start simultaneously along with the resumption of offline classes.
The Vice Chancellor had long deliberations with the teaching and non-teaching faculty and has ordered the redressal of legitimate problems in a time bound manner. Examination related procedures have been simplified for timely declaration of results. In order to channelize the energies of students in constructive activities, a programme has been conceived to organize sports competition of Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton and Chess inviting entries from local Colleges and the winners will be awarded cash prizes.
Vice Chancellor has also established a “BGSBU Sports Club” and various captions of the Club will be honored with the Coveted University Blazer. Most importantly, the University has initiated steps to prepare a 15 – year Perspective Plan for BGSBU to make it nationally acclaimed University.
Notably, the Vice Chancellor has invited suggestions / inputs from the civil society, particularly from the region of Rajouri and Poonch whom he considers as important stake holders in realization of the dream of establishment of BGSBU in this region of Pir Panjal.
