Farooq seeks financial assistance for Karnah cloudburst victims

SRINAGAR, Aug 16: National Conference president and Member Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah today expressed deep concern over the extensive damage caused by cloudburst in Karnah area and sought immediate financial assistance to rehabilitate the affected people.
While expressing grief at the massive damages caused in Tanghdar and other adjoining areas, former Chief Minister asked the administration to immediately provide financial assistance to those who have lost their residential houses and shops in the subsequent flash floods.
He impressed upon the district administration to restore road connectivity to the area on war footing and also ensure that power and water supply to the area is restored as soon as possible.
Dr Farooq also sought the Governor’s prompt and effective action in starting reconstruction and rehabilitation works in the affected areas which have suffered massive damages due to the cloudburst.
Meanwhile, Kupwara district president, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone and former MLA, Karnah Kafil ur Rehman, also expressed profound grief over the damages caused to residential houses and shops in Tanghdar and adjoining areas due to the cloudburst. They sought immediate financial assistance to the affected people.
