KATHUA, Apr 16: Under the active supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, (Executive), Jammu, Shahid Saleem, the Excise Sleuths conducted series of raids in district Kathua under the command of ETO, Kathua Excise Range, Sandeep Gupta, to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour.
The team conducted raids in villages Saktachak, Keengdayal, Sitdayal, Maichak and Lower Saktachak and adjoining areas. In the process 1500 Kg Lahan and 15 bottles of illicit liquor prepared from Lahan, which is highly injurious to health, has been destroyed. Similar raids have also been conducted in different areas of Jammu Division to arrest the menace. The Department has initiated multi-pronged strategy to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liqour. Inspection teams have been activated and there shall be no laxity for those who violate the law. This was stated in an official handout issued here today.
