*2 arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Mar 17: Excise Department has booked owners of a wine shop and bar and restaurant viz arrested two persons with illicit liquor.
As per official spokesman, on the directions of Excise Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan, different teams laid nakas at different places and raided various locations.
The team conducted raid in Dansal area and booked owner of one wine shop namely Rajni Wine Shop for violation under the J&K Excise Act SVT 1958. During checking at National Highway near Battal Ballian in District Udhampur, a vehicle bearing registration number JK06A5079 was found carrying iron goods without GST bill. The vehicle along with iron goods were handed over to Taxes Enforcement Wing Udhampur for further course of action.
Another team laid down nakas on Rajouri-Poonch Excise Range at Dalogra in District Rajouri and Poonch-Mendhar Road and checked 88 vehicles for ascertaining any illegal movement of liquor and drugs.
In Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, the Excise Department patrolled in villages Manthla, Spota, Dasalla and Chakka and arrested two persons namely Pardeep Kumar and Santosh Kumar who were carrying two bottles each of illicit liquor. Both the accused were arrested and a case under the Excise Act was registered. 15 liters of lahan was also recovered and destroyed on the spot.
In Kathua Range, nakas were laid on second consecutive day at Nagri, Goondh and Jaraie to check the illegal smuggling of liquor and drugs. Around 60 cars were randomly checked. In Samba, premise of Moonlight Bar and Restaurant Bari Brahmana was checked and the licencee was booked for violation of licence conditions.
Those who participated in day long operations included Virender Pawar, ETO Excise Range Rajouri-Poonch, Nagesh Singh, ETO Excise Range North Jammu, Rupali Vaid, ETO Excise Range Udhampur-Reasi, Virender Kumar ETO Excise Range Kathua, Suraj Parkash ETO Excise Range Samba alongwith Excise Inspectors Mohammad Parvez, Mohammad Arif, Farroq Ahmad, Rahul Agstum, Raj Singh, Arun Kumar, Razi Ahamd and Renu Sharma.
