JAMMU, Mar 17: Another Total Knee Replacement Surgery was performed today in Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar on a 68-year-old female patient with latest and advance techniques.
The patient was suffering from severe Arthritis of both the knees for last 10 years and had received various types of treatment from different hospitals inside and outside Jammu and Kashmir.
After assessing the stage of severity of Arthritis/Pain, the patient was advised for Total Knee Replacement by the Dr Kanav Padha, Consultant Orthopedic & Joint Replacement Surgeon at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar and was performed successfully. The patient was made to walk on next day of surgery with active support of Physiotherapist of the Hospital and was discharged satisfactorily.
Briefing about the surgery done, Dr Padha told that no Tourniquet was used during the surgery as its use may cause post operative thigh pain. He said that patient was given advanced Anesthesia during the surgery to reduce the blood loss and post operative infection risk.
“No Skin sutures or Staplers were applied during the surgery on the skin as their use can increase the risk of post operative infections and their removal is very painful, which adds to the patient discomfort,” he further informed.
The surgery was performed by Dr Kanav Padha and Dr Deepak Tickoo, Orthopedic Surgeons with the active support of Medical Superintendent of Hospital, Dr Chander Parkash and Dr Perupkar Singh, Deputy Medical Superintendent.
The Hypotensive Anesthesia was given by Dr Sangeeta and her team while OT support was provided by Rakesh Bakshi, Sudesh and Gulzari Lal.
