Excise Commissioner interacts with industrialists

JAMMU, Dec 16: Excise Commissioner, T Angchok today interacted with the members of the Industrial Associations at Lakhanpur to have an overview of the problems being faced by them.
The meeting was attended by Anu Malhotra, Additional Commissioner Commercial (Administration) Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Check Post Lakhanpur, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur and other officers of the twin Departments of Excise & Commercial Taxes.
The representatives of Industrial Association who attended the meeting included Rajesh Jain, Chairman Federation of Industries Bari Brahmana, Jammu and representatives of Industrial Associations of Kathua and Samba.
The representatives of the Industrial Association desired for providing a dedicated weighbridge (bay) for vehicles carrying industrial goods, early clearance of such vehicles, clearance of industrial goods round the clock, simplification of procedures, abolition of submission of annual Toll Tax performa and removal of other bottle necks hindering the early clearance of their vehicles including decongestion at the entrance to the State at Madhopur Bridge.
The representatives were conveyed that the departments have already taken up integration of the Excise & Commercial Taxes Department that will simplify the procedures and reduce interface that will help in speedy clearance of the vehicles. The Excise Commissioner issued instructions to the representatives of M/s Tata Consultancy Services to submit the proposal for integration at an earliest as the company is already looking after the computerization of the Commercial Taxes Department.
He assured providing of dedicated three weighbridges (two on import side and one on export side) for clearance of vehicles carrying industrial goods and a dedicated window for clearance of the industrial goods / vehicles. With regard to the other issues, it was conveyed that they shall be considered at the appropriate level.
