Ex-policemen League holds meet, discuss demands

JAMMU, July 8: Ex- policemen League, district Jammu, today held a meeting here at District Police Line under the chairmanship of its president, DSP (retd) KS Sambyal.
A large number of retired police personnel participated in the meeting and discussed threadbare various issues of their interest.
The meeting criticized the Government and the Police Department for not making any policy for resettlement of police personnel after their retirement. The participating members requested the DGP to take up the matter of revival of SRO 458 of police that has been kept in abeyance, with the Government, as they alleged that the SRO protects and take cares of the problems of retired policemen.
The other demands highlighted by the Forum included providing life saving medicines to the needy retired police personnel from Police Hospital, 10% reservation for wards of police personnel in recruitment in Police recruitment admission in professional institutions and providing on spot payment of Rs 10, 000 for last rites of police personnel at the time of their deaths through special representative of police department.
The meeting also demanded enhancement of medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, reimbursement of medical claims upto one lakh of ailing retired policemen who undergo any medical treatment and providing specs and hearing aid machines to the needy retired NGOs and other ranks through Police Hospital.
Among others who participated in the meeting include PL Mattoo, VP Gupta, RK Bali, Sagar Singh, Ashok Bhagat and ML Mathur.
