SAMBA, July 8: District Development Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda today convened a meeting with members of J&K Handicapped Welfare Forum and differently abled persons of the district.
Chairman of J&K Handicapped Welfare Forum, Charan Dass presented the long pending demands of Physically Challenged persons before DDC Samba.
Demands highlighted during the meeting were opening of at least one model school designed for disabled persons with specially trained teaching staff, clearance of pension cases of physically handicapped persons, reimbursement of education expenditure for disabled children of Government employees, vocational training, provision of scooter in place of tricycle to disabled person, loan to disabled person at low interest rate, free medical aid/treatment in Government hospital and private nursing homes, special allowance for child care for women with disabilities.
Chairman J&K Handicapped Welfare Forum also presented memorandum of demands to DDC Samba.
DDC Samba while giving a patient hearing to the demands of differently disabled persons assured them that every possible step will be taken to redress their problems and that all their genuine demands will be redressed on priority basis. She directed ADC, Samba to issue a circular that differently abled persons should not have to wait in queues and should be dealt on priority. She also said that the pension system in the district shall be streamlined and assured them that camps shall be organized for issuance of disability certificates as and when demand is projected from any area.
