Ex-MP visits shelling- hit Poonch LoC villages

RAJOURI, Aug 17: Senior Congress leader and former Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma today visited the forward areas in Mendhar and Balakote sector affected by Pakistani shelling and strongly demanded that these villagers be habilitated in safer zones.
Mr Sharma paid condolences at the home of  Sarpanch Karamat who sacrificed his life. He also met with the families of the other persons killed in firing. While paying condolences, the Ex-MP  said that he, his party and whole Nation is with the people of Balakote and other affected areas of district Poonch and Rajouri at this difficult juncture. He said that Pakistan is resorting to unprovoked firing with heavy weaponry on civil population which is inhumane and condemnable.
While interacting with the inhabitants of the area,  Mr Sharma shred their grief and assured every possible help from the Congress party. He demanded the construction of  Pacca bunkers and insurance for the  crop  and property of the border inhabitants. He demanded land for border people at safer zones away from LoC and IB with the provision of construction of their houses.
The former MP condemned the criminal silence of BJP Government and reminded them of their pre-election assurances which they spelt like `56 -inch chhati’ and so on. He appealed the Prime Minister to ensure the security and safety of the people and demanded the compensation to these people on the pattern of being given to militancy affected people.
He pointed out that people who are killed in border shelling are given compensation of Rs one lakh where as those killed in militancy get Rs 5 lakh and a job to their next kin. He called upon the Central and State Government to end this discrimination with border people.
