MENDHAR, May 7: After his escape from police custody, a noted thief, who was wanted in several burglaries in tehsil Mendhar and adjoining areas of district Poonch, was nabbed by police last night.
A police spokesman identified the accused as Tahir Hussain Shah (24), son of Bagdad Hussain, resident of Gohlad in Mendhar. He had escaped from the police lock up recently and was still at large.
Acting on a specific information, a police party led by SHO Mendhar (DySP Prob), Burhan-ul-Haq, conducted a raid at a hideout of wanted criminal and nabbed him from there. He was put behind the bars in police lock up at Mendhar.
He was wanted in Police FIR Nos. 133/ 2012, 107/2012, 71/ 2013 and recently FIR No. 47/ 2014.
In the recent case, Tahir had stolen four sheep of a local villager. The police also recovered the stolen animals at his instance. Some more recovery is expected from him as accused has been placed under sustained questioning. Tahir had escaped from the local Police Station giving slip to the cops and two policemen including Thana Munshi had been suspended by SP Poonch.
SP Poonch, Shamsher Hussain described the arrest of this thief as major success for Mendhar police. He said that with this arrest and Tahir’s sustained interrogation, several burglary cases in the area will be solved. He was said to be kingpin in several burglary cases and his associates will also be held shortly.
