Govt should attend to people’s problems: Gupta

JAMMU, May 7: Now when the poll process for Lok Sabha elections is nearing to an end, the State Government leaders should devote their energies to the numerous problems facing the people.
This was observed by the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta while responding to the complaints of the activists of different areas about being neglect and the developmental activists coming to a halt.
The activists pointed out to the awful conditions of the roads and drains. The paucity of drinking water, poor electricity, shortage of rations, deteriorating health services and a near collapse of the Government functioning in several other fields resulting in chaos and anarchy.
Prof. Gupta said that the functioning of the Government was already in limbo but it was quite a sad situation created during past some months as the Ministers were busy in electioneering forgetting other responsibilities.
He said the raining season is approaching but even the small repair works of roads and in other fields have not been carried out. The approach of neglect and poor functioning of the authorities can lead to more damages which should have been repaired by now.
Prof. Gupta also pointed out that elections to the Lok Sabha were no doubt quite an important exercise but the Assembly elections are not very far off. If the present laxity and the approach of neglect continues any more the ruling parties would have to face the music, he warned and asked the Government leaders to act or quit.
