Equitable development of all regions; tops Govt’s agenda: Kohli

RAJOURI: The present government is working consistently to ensure equitable development of all regions with emphasis that border areas are given special attention in terms of development.

Minister for Sheep, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Abdul Ghani Kohli said this while addressing a public meeting at Panchayat Ghadani, here today.

The Minister said that “thrust of present government is to focus on balanced and composite development of all regions especially neglected, rural and border belts for benefit of the populations residing in these areas”.

He further said that efforts are underway to strengthen the public infrastructure in far off areas and ensure no citizen is devoid of basic amenities of life, i.e. drinking water, electricity, roads besides strong social infrastructure.

The Minister also announced a 2 km road at Panchayat Ghadani and directed department of PHE and PDD to ensure regular water and electricity supply to all regions.

He further directed the officers to organize awareness camps and educate people of border belts about setting up basic economic units of agricultural allied activities especially regarding setting up of dairy and fisheries having greater production scope in the area.

The public also put forth number of demands including augmenting road network, water supply, assistance for marriages of orphan girls and ownership rights of state land to the nomads.

Officers of various departments including Sheep and Animal Husbandry departments were also present on the occasion.
