JAMMU, Oct 31: Director General of Police (DGP), J&K K Rajendra Kumar asked the police and BSF personnel to synergize their efforts and fully ensure the safety and security of the local population.
He stated this during his visit to firing and shelling affecting areas including Jhora Farm, Chakroi and Jugnu Chak in different BOPs at International Border (IB) in RS Pura Sector. He was accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone Danesh Rana, IGP BSF DK Uppaday, SP Headquarters Jammu Ramesh Kotwal, SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and many other senior police officers.
DGP also conducted a detailed visit to the most affected border villages falling under the jurisdiction of Abdullian and Shamka Panchayats, where heavy firing from across the border is going on due to which some villagers have been affected and were evacuated to safer places at ITI College RS Pura and City Middle School RS Pura.
During his visit to IB in RS Pura Sector, he also interacted with BSF jawans and found their morale high. He appreciated the valour of giving the befitting reply to unprovoked and continuous ceasefire violations from across the border.
BSF and other officers briefed the DGP about the current border situation. After making an assessment of the situation, DGP briefed the Police and BSF personnel to synergize their efforts and fully ensure the safety and security of the local population.
Later, DGP visited camps of border villages at ITI College RS Pura and City Middle School RS Pura and took stock of the measures for the safety and security of the people. He also inspected the lodgement centre and community kitchen being run in these camps.
He issued instructions to the administration to ensure hygiene and provision of basic civic amenities in these camps taken for the welfare and safety of the people. He also issued some directions to SDM for the welfare of people living in these camps.
DGP exhorted upon the police officers to be the first responders in the hour of crisis and help the public of border areas round the clock. He also held interaction with the officers of BSF deployed in these areas.
While expressing concern over increasing infiltration bids and lurking possibility of ultras sneaking in, he asked the Police and BSF officers to remain vigilant both at the borders as well as in the interior areas to foil the designs of the terrorists to disturb peace and tranquility in Jammu Zone.
He asked to launch cordon and search operations in areas adjoining the border to clear the area of any suspected movement apart from strengthening the intelligence network to generate actionable inputs to neutralize the terrorist threats.
